Saint Paul native Charles Schultz spirit lives on in Saint Paul’s Landmark Plaza. Nicknamed “Peanuts Park” by locals, the park features most of the comic strip’s characters including Charlie Brown, Snoopy,  Schroeder, Lucy, Linus and Peppermint Patty.

Charles Schultz was born in Minneapolis in 1922 but grew up in Saint Paul. After serving in the second world war, he began a career as an Art instructor but also drew as a side project. He created several different comic strips but phased the others out, after he was able to sell  ‘Peanuts”.

Charlie Brown and Snoopy. Saint Paul has an astonishing amount of Staues. Including some additional peanuts characters in different parts of the city. There are several statues of Saint Paul’s other famous son F. Scott Fitzgerald which we will cover in a future post.

Although Schultz moved to California after the success of “Peanuts” his hometown has not forgotten him. You can see these statues at Landmark Plaza in downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota. The downtown area is very pedestrian friendly with several parks and some very nice old fashioned diners. It is most certainly worth a visit.
