Every day from now until Spring, I will play a song from each year from 1940-2020. I’ll also write a little bit about the song and why I chose it to represent that year.
1982 was probably the biggest year of life. It was the year I graduated from Bonner Springs High School (Go Braves!) and started my freshman year at Fort Hays State University (Go Tigers!). I had a job at Thom McAn Shoes my senior year and still managed to be in plays, debate, Student Choir, Student Council, and wrote a weekly column in my high school and was active in my church. Man, I’d kill for half that energy today. The number one song on the week of May 25th, 1982 was “Ebony and Ivory” by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder. I remember really liking the fact that the song that I would remember with my graduation was such a positive one.
