80 Years until Spring 1968

Every day from now until Spring, I will play a song from each year from 1940-2020. I’ll also write a little bit about the song and why I chose it to represent that year.

I can so relate to this song. All I ever seem to do is work. I’ve never really known much unemployment and been continuously employed for the last 23 years (granted it was 4 different jobs but I stayed at all of them for at least five years each)  And every time I always got poor hours (evenings and weekends).  I missed so many birthdays and holidays, I never get to see my friends much and I’ve missed vast swaths of the lives of my family.  I’m not trying to turn this into self-pity, it is what it is. It’s just rough on relationships, social, familial and romantic. I really get the guy in the song. I think the line “And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time” is sheer poetry. I sing this song Karaoke sometimes (when I actually have a free evening). It’s one I don’t have to pretend to emote. I always loved Glen Campbell RIP

    1. True. I sometimes think ( save for the lack of money) I’d like to be unemployed. That would probably last about three weeks. Then I’d be bored. Your photography is superb. I don;t know if that’s your line of work, but you’re quite guifted.

      1. Thanks Darryl, but there are many more talented photographers than me who can’t make a living at it. I managed a team at a midsize corporation…mostly numbers. It was fun, collecting severance for the first month or so…walks with the dogs, more time with friends and family. But now the weather is gloomy, money is tight and I worry constantly.
