Every day from now until Spring, I will play a song from each year from 1940-2020. I’ll also write a little bit about the song and why I chose it to represent that year.

I love “Little Runaway”. I love the vocals and I especially love the spacy organ solo. It was so different. Sadly, for the most part, Del Shannon was a one-hit-wonder.  He had minor success with “Hats off to Larry”. He did have a more viable career as a songwriter and was even considered to replace Roy Orbison on the traveling Wilburys until his sudden and untimely death in 1990. But the song definitely lives on.
