Every day from now until Spring, I will play a song from each year from 1940-2020. I’ll also write a little bit about the song and why I chose it to represent that year.
I love the bittersweet quality of the music of the first half of the 1940s If any song really captures how people were feeling in 1945 it has to be this song. The feeling of seeing your loved ones home from the war after all the years of separation. I’m excited to share the songs of my lifetime (1963 onward) but like Spring I have to be patient. Besides, there was some great music that came along before me.
