Let’s do some “Show and Tell”. Here’s your chance to plug your Blog.

That’s write, sorry, I mean that’s right.  I would love to have you post here about your blog. You can write anything you’d like, but I’d love to know things like:

What’s the name of your blog and why did you pick that name? How long have you been blogging? Does your blog have a philosophy, mantra or mission statement? What have been some of your favorite posts you’ve written? Have you been surprised by anything unexpected since you started? And anything else you’d like to add. I would love to get some feedback.

I’ll Start.  My blog is “Globetrotting grandpa” I like the name because it is something I feel like I can grow in to. Not something a decade or two I would need to change.  I’m 55 so I may be on the young end of grandpahood.  But this is my attempt at embracing my impending senescence.

The primary focus of my blog is travel, but I also write about my issues with health and weight loss, I also add an occasional original poem or haiku.

I do have a mission statement it is from the poem “Ulysses” by Alfred Lord Tennyson. ” T’is not too late to seek a newer world.” I truly believe that. You can travel at any age. You are never too old. (or too broke, too depressed, too heavy, too…anything)

My favorite posts have been the informative posts like “Hosteling over 50”, “Repo cruises,” and the guides for things to do for free in Las Vegas, San Francisco,  Seattle, and NYC. Those posts take more time to write and research, but the truth is, I really LOVE researching.

I’ve found several things surprising since I started the blog.  For one thing, I was so impressed by the professional quality in so many of the blogs here. Well written, great pictures, and some innovative layout and presentation. I was also so pleased with the level of support from so many of you. I’m very grateful for all the kind comments and people from all over the world who have viewed my page. And this is such great fun. I needed this. Without dredging up all the maudlin muck, suffice to say I was in kind of down. This has really given me something fun to look forward to, so I am so grateful for that.

Okay, that’s it for me. Show me what you got. I’d love to read all about what going on with you.

I’d just discovered the WP mobile app and was wild to post. These were the first two words I could think of that worked.

How long have you been blogging?

    Since November of 2017

Does your blog have a philosophy, mantra or mission statement?

No, but I wouldn’t mind having a hand in redefining quality in the poetic arts.

What have been some of your favorite posts you’ve written?

“The Hip Woman,” “Troubador,” “this is the passion,” “didn’t we dance?, “Country Porch,” “Loved and Loved”

Have you been surprised by anything unexpected since you started?

Astonished by the warmth, quality, cognizance and support of this community.

And anything else you’d like to add.

Secondary site “Timeless Wisdoms” is full of uplifting, inspiring, informative, beautiful and entertaining offerings from all over the Web. “Globetrotting Grandpa” is featured on it regularly.

I would love to get some feedback.

Thanks, Grandpa, for your outreach to the community!

  2. My blog is “Think on Good Things”. I chose that name because I really try to focus on the positive every day – something I’ve really tried to do all my life. I believe it helps you get through the tough times in life. My goal with my blog was to provide a “bright spot” for others – to give them a smile, make them remember that life is good, or to inspire others to reach outside their comfort zone and try something new. I’ve only been blogging for FIVE WEEKS – so I’m VERY new at this. I’m definitely enjoying it – and I’m trying to learn from all of you! Thank you for asking!

    1. Welcome Lisa, I love your explanation, that’s a perfect reason to start a blog. There are so many warm welcoming people in the blogging community from all over the world. I hope it proves to be as much of an adventure as it has been for me.

  3. Thanks for this opportunity, Globetrotting Grandpa!
What’s the name of your blog and why did you pick that name?
    bionicoldguy
    (www.bionicoldguy.blog)
I had two hip replacements at age 59 and a heart valve replacement at age 64. That’s the “bionic” part. I’m 66, that’s the “old guy” part.

How long have you been blogging? Since Dec. 2018.

Does your blog have a philosophy, mantra or mission statement?
“staying active while aging, despite life’s curveballs”. Any topic related to healthy aging is fair game.

What have been some of your favorite posts you’ve written?
I enjoyed sharing my story, and I’ve enjoyed my recent posts on focusing on health, not weight.

Have you been surprised by anything unexpected since you started?
The most fun part turns out to be interacting with my fellow bloggers. I “follow” all my “followers” and enjoy my emails each day with a great diversity of posts. There are a lot of kindred spirits on wordpress. I also like how intelligent and positive the interaction is on wordpress, much better than other forums or social media.

And anything else you’d like to add. I would love to get some feedback.
Keep up with the globetrotting! I also look forward to finding out where you have been and seeing the pictures.

    1. Thanks, you’ve been through a lot but you’ve come through, you definitely earned your moniker. Trying to stay healthy and well as we age is of real interest to me and many others. I am enjoying your blog very much. Thank you for sharing.
