Since I am currently in shelter in place (as many of you), I am re-running one of the most popular posts that features one of my favorite Places: Ireland. Hope you enjoy them. GG.

The center point of Donegal City is an area called “The Diamond” a triangular-shaped meeting area where concerts are often played. Most of the city’s main roads intersect here.
One of the highlights to any visit to Donegal would be Donegal Castle home to the McDonnell Clan for centuries.

Bridge over the river Eske. Across the bridge are several inexpensive B&B’s and the Donegal Hostel Hotel. There is also a very inexpensive hostel a couple of miles away at Lough Eske.
The city’s most famous landmark is the Franciscan Friary. The abandoned friary now has a graveyard among the ruins

Donegal is a great place for Craic (Gaelic for “a good time”) Improvised Jam Sessions at the local Pubs was commonplace.

Donegal City on the Bay of Donegal which has many beaches which are often secluded and unoccupied.

Donegal is the northernmost county in the Republic and is renowned for its secluded beauty. The county tends to get fewer tourists as a rule than the southern part of the country. The county is adjacent to Northern Ireland and the two make for a great combination.
