Does anybody here ever have travel dreams? I don’t mean travel dreams in the sense of “aspirations and hopes” type dreams. I figure anyone who follows a travel blog probably has those. I know I sure do. No, I am talking about actual  travel dreams, the kind you have when you sleep. I get them a lot, especially lately. The odd part is most generally they are in places I haven’t been to (at least yet). And they are so vivid, I know it’s perhaps due to the fact that I am a voracious reader of travel books and an avid follower of travel programs on You-tube. But I also meet “people’ in these dreams and we carry on fully developed conversations. Is this just me??

For example, last night I dreamed I was in Nepal (somewhere I haven’t been to yet) and was on a bus tour and we stopped in this small town for a break. I went into a cafe there and met a girl working behind the counter. She told me about her village and that she was going to school and she gave me a rice dish and I could intensely taste the spices.  She and I talked for a few moments and then my morning alarm rang. I actually needed to lay in bed for a minute while my brain had to convince me that: “No, I hadn’t actually visited Nepal and yes, the  conversation no matter how real seeming,  was just in my mind.” It definitely made me melancholy for a moment. So I would love to know have any of you experienced anything like this?  If so, tell me about it in the comments. I don’t know if it is just me.

  1. Yeah, I too have such dreams but the occurrence is rare.. Though, they are quite realistic and with such details that even I take couple of moments to realize that it was just a dream . 😊

  2. No, silly guy. It is not just you. Actually, fairly common. I certainly have had my share of them.
I used to have dreams of Kathmandu in Nepal. Finally I gave in, and told my brother ‘we have to go’.
Go we did, and it was exactly as I had seen in my dreams.

    1. Enjoy the dreams.
    2. Pay attention, maybe the place is calling to you.
    3. Consider a visit.
