A change is gonna come. Re- imagining my weight loss journey Week 3

Alright, first things first. Let’s get the wight in out of the way… Two more pounds,  six gone so far. I am going to keep telling myself “slow and steady wins the race”.

Eating and travel

It’s a mixed bag for a lot of travelers. I personally tend to lose weight (or at least not gain) when I travel. I think this is primarily because I tend to be much more active when I am on the road. So much to see, so much I want to explore and possibly put in my blog. It keeps me busy. I just came back from a week in Iowa and Minnesota and i was up by 8am every day and in bed after 11 and I was moving most of that time. How about you? Do you tend to lose, gain, or maintain weight when you travel. I’d love to hear your thoughts.  For me it’s trying to lose when I am ‘drydocked’ and just doing the daily rut that is the challenge.

A change might do you good

I’m looking to mix things up as far as the posting. What I have been doing is posting every week to 10 days and it really isn’t working for me. I need more personal accountability so I am going to keep a daily journal. I won’t post it here daily as i don’t want to “clog the blog” and besides, I will always maintain this is a travel journal that sometimes post health and fitness, not vice verse. So I will post every Monday and Thursday. I will post all the daily entries just twice a week.

Also, starting in August I am going to try an experiment. I want to go Vegan for a month. I am not doing this to lose weight specifically (although it would certainly be nice) but more for general health. I am more interested in how it might make me feel than how I might look. I am taking a multivitamin to ensure I get my daily B-12 and i have a non-dairy protein drink I will take as well. I normally eat nuts daily. So I will be logging my food intake on myfitnesspro.com  and closely watching my protein intake. If I feel sick I will stop. I want to try to find something that works for me long term but I need to be open to trying new things to see what works best for me.

  1. 6 pounds gone, hooray! A coach once told me to look at the number on the scale and know that next week it would be less and that I would never see that number again. Now, having fallen off the wagon numerous times, I know that isn’t true unless I make it so, but power of positive thinking and all…

  2. 6 down and more will follow. The journey has already begun. I’m looking forward to hearing how the vegan diet works for you.

    1. Thanks Kim. I am looking forward to it also. I am trying to be open to different ways people get in shape and lose weight. There really isn’t one path and a big part of the whole journey is trying to find out what works for you. I will just tell myself if I hate it I can have a steak in September.
